Sean McDermott Criminal Defense and Civil Litigation Sean McDermott's practice focuses on both defending people who have been accused of crimes and people who need help with civil litigation. Mr. McDermott has a pre-eminent AV Martindale Hubbell rating. Prior to going into private practice, Mr. McDermott was a Deputy State Public Defender from 1998 - 2005. During that time he tried numerous cases in county, juvenile and district court in El Paso, Pueblo and Arapahoe counties. While a law student, Mr. McDermott was handling cases and successfully taking cases to trial under Colorado's Student Practice Act. During this time, Mr. McDermott was also selected to be on his law school's trial and appellate advocacy teams. Mr. McDermott has defended all kinds of criminal cases. Mr. McDermott's civil practice also focuses on assisting the individual. Mr. McDermott has also worked to improve the legal community by teaching Continuing Legal Education and donating his time. Mr. McDermott was recently elected as Secretary of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar (CCDB). Mr. McDermott has served on its Board of Directors since 2006.
